About Me

I’ve probably been singing since the day I was born — I like to think my first cry came out in tune (though my parents might disagree). Music has always been second nature to me. I started writing songs when I was about nine, was always in some kind of choir, and well versed in scales. We had a piano at home, but I never quite mastered reading music — I preferred to play by ear and intuition, which has served me surprisingly well!

At fourteen, I was accepted into The Southern School of Popular Singing, and started performing in theatres and festivals across the South. Around that time, my parents were running a pub where we also lived — basically, I grew up above a stage. live bands would come and play every week, and I’d sneak into sing, jam, and join a local blues band on harmonica occasionally. It was the best kind of education a young performer could get!

After school, I went on to study Performing Arts and Drama, earning a BTEC National Diploma, plus LAMDA Grade 8 and a Bronze Medal in Solo Acting. I’ve always loved performing in all its forms, and at one point I even trained as a clown with RJ Entertainments. That’s right — I can spin plates, twist balloon dogs, and ride a tiny bicycle. I spent time performing at children’s hospitals, birthday parties, and community events, which was as rewarding as it was ridiculous (in the best possible way).

Over the years, I’ve dabbled in just about everything: acting, chorus lines, TV extra work, and even a summer season at a well-known holiday park. Then, in 2006, fate (and a friend’s house clearance) handed me a ukulele. I tuned it for him, fell completely in love with the sound the tiny instrument made, and immediately wanted one of my own. Since then, I’ve been hooked — the uke became my creative side kick.

Not long after, I went busking — partly out of necessity, partly out of curiosity — and discovered I loved it. There’s something liberating about singing your heart out on a street corner and realizing people actually stop to listen. From there, I started hosting open mic nights, performing in countless pubs, cafés, and community spaces, and supporting amazing charities like Solent Mind and TONIC Music for Mental Health.

In March 2022, I joined Fiesta 95FM as a volunteer presenter for The Ukulele Radio Show, broadcasting every Monday from 6–7pm. It’s a joy to share an eclectic mix of uke-driven music, from classic covers to contemporary artists — all celebrating that wonderfully tiny instrument.

More recently, I’ve thrown myself into the festival scene and have been lucky enough to perform at some incredible events, including Camp Wildfire, Home Farm Fest, The Summer Festival, GNUF (Grand Northern Ukulele Festival), Summer Strum, North Tyneside Ukulele Festival, and a host of British Country Shows. I even performed a virtual set for Dock Street Uke Camp in Canada — proof that the ukulele really does bring the world together.

You’ll always find me writing new songs, recording demos, or plotting my next gig. I’ve written hundreds of songs over the years — some funny, some heartfelt, some still hiding on cassette tapes from the ‘90s. Maybe one day I’ll finally let them escape. Until then, I’ll keep strumming, singing, and seeing where the next chord takes me.
